Carmella opened up about the stark contrast between her past life as a touring superstar and her current world at home. Discussing how she and husband Corey Graves first connected while grinding on the road together, she pointed out just how much has changed:
“We worked together. So, we met through work. We worked together all the time, and then we were home… Luckily, I’m retired now, so it’s definitely a little bit different, but yeah, we met at work.”
Addressing the core reason she will not lace up the boots again, Carmella did not mince words:
“I was a professional wrestler, so it’s like I can’t wrestle anymore. I’m a mom. I have kids. So that’s kind of like, I’m retired. My 2-year-old does not understand, because my husband travels so much for work still. And I’ll be like, ‘Okay, I have to go work.’ And he’s like, ‘But you’re going downstairs.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, but that’s Mommy’s work.’ I know he doesn’t understand, but funny.”
The grueling WWE schedule demands over 200 days a year of travel, bumps, and physical toll. With Corey Graves still on the road every single week serving as the voice of WWE programming, having both parents living out of suitcases simply wasn’t sustainable for their family.
