WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes has shared the news that his family dog, Pharaoh, has passed away. Rhodes posted a lengthy, emotional tribute on Instagram, looking back on the years he shared with his longtime companion.
Who Was Cody Rhodes Dog Pharaoh
Pharaoh wasn’t just a pet — he became a familiar face to wrestling fans over the years. The Siberian Husky, who was 13 years old, appeared alongside Cody Rhodes on both AEW and WWE television, and even had his own WWE merchandise. Just weeks ago, Pharaoh’s name came up on WWE SmackDown, when Randy Orton referenced him during his feud with Cody, asking if the family had to bury their dog. Rhodes clarified at the time that Pharaoh was still alive — making this news only days later especially difficult for fans.
In his Instagram post, Rhodes wrote that huskies need a “job,” and that Pharaoh finally found his purpose after his daughter Liberty was born. Old photos show Pharaoh constantly by her side, almost as if he had appointed himself her protector.
Rhodes described Pharaoh as a “crisis dog,” someone who always showed up whenever the family was going through a hard time. He recalled that when his father, Dusty Rhodes, passed away, Pharaoh sat outside with him through the night until the sky began to change.
In 2024, Cody retired Pharaoh from traveling to wrestling shows because of his age. Public appearances slowed down after that, but his place in fans’ hearts never did.
Closing his tribute, Rhodes shared the last words he told Pharaoh: “You did your job. We love you.”
Cody did not disclose a specific cause of death.
