Looking at his family background, it might seem like reaching WWE would have been easy for him. However, the reality was very different. Jacob Fatu’s road to WWE was anything but smooth. He grew up in Sacramento, where he also played football at Rosemont High School. After graduating in 2008, his life took an unexpected turn. At just 18 years old, he was arrested on a robbery charge and ended up serving time in Sacramento County Jail. WWE has never tried to hide this part of his past. In fact, fans now see it as an important chapter of Jacob Fatu’s real-life story because it was after this difficult period that he completely turned his life around.

Jacob Fatu signed with WWE in April 2024, and he made his debut on the June 21, 2024, episode of SmackDown. It is widely regarded as one of the most memorable WWE debuts in recent years. In his very first appearance, Fatu single-handedly attacked Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens, officially aligning himself with Solo Sikoa’s version of The Bloodline. When he crashed through the announce table with a devastating Frog Splash, it became clear to fans that WWE had no intention of giving him a slow push.
From that point on, Fatu’s rise was incredibly fast. He competed in his first WWE match at Money in the Bank 2024, teaming with Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga to defeat Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens. Just one month later, Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga defeated DIY to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. The nickname “The Samoan Werewolf” perfectly suits Jacob Fatu’s in-ring style. Jacob Fatu’s growing reputation wasn’t limited to WWE. One of the most respected publications in the wrestling industry, Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI), recognized his talent long before he signed with WWE. In 2020, when Fatu was still competing on the independent circuit and in MLW, he was ranked No. 20 on the prestigious PWI 500 list of the world’s top singles wrestlers. What’s even more impressive is that he was ranked No. 20 again in the 2025 PWI 500 rankings. This shows that even though his popularity skyrocketed after joining WWE, his reputation as an elite in-ring performer remained just as strong. Think about it—Jacob Fatu was still wrestling in independent promotions and MLW when wrestling experts were already recognizing him as one of the best wrestlers in the world. 10. Becoming a Champion, Then Breaking Free.
Jacob Fatu’s biggest individual achievement in WWE so far came at WrestleMania 41, where he defeated LA Knight to win the WWE United States Championship.
